Once a Scrubjay recruiter ensures an applicant meets all qualifications, we look to match years of experience, specialty experience, and location preference to provide the best possible fit for our travel nurses. We can also guide them through credentialing and a competency assessment.

Travel Nursing In California
If I am a licensed RN in another state, how do I become a licensed RN in California?
The California Board of Registered Nursing offers licensure by endorsement for RNs who hold a current and active license in another state, US territory, or Canada. This process can take 10-12 weeks.
Is California a Nursys state?
California does not participate in the Nursys online verification database.
Is California a compact state?
California is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact.
Is California a walk-through state?
Currently, the California Board of Registered Nursing does not provide expedited or same-day temporary nurse licenses. To learn more about the temporary licensure process in California, go here.
How long is a temporary license valid for in California?

Making A Successful Match
What sort of experience is required for travel nursing?
We require 1-2 years of experience for our specialty travel nurse assignments. Many Scrubjay Travel Med nurses have high-acuity experience in the NICU, PICU, ICU, ER, and similar environments.
When does a travel nurse start an assignment after matching?
Typically, there’s a two-week window during which all the necessary onboarding and orientation is conducted.
How does Scrubjay screen its travel nurses?
Applicants must meet all California Board of Registered Nursing requirements for education, credentialing, and licensing. Nurses must also complete a background check and pass a drug screening.
